The legendary Roby Lakatos, known as the „King of the Gypsy Violinists“, as well as the sensational Russian piano virtu-oso Arcadi Volodos – with this remarkable line-up of artists, Abu Dhabi Classics is launching its first season in 2008/09. These extraordinary artists will be joining Abu Dhabi Classics in its inaugural season to present a broad musical cross-section, ranging from classical via gypsy to jazz.Franz Liszt meets Johannes Brahms and Broadway meets bebop, proving the great American musician Leonard Bernstein’s theory: it doesn’t matter whether it’s classical, jazz, folk or pop, because there are only two kinds of music: good and bad. The music pro-grammed on this inaugural evening gala is as good as it gets.

The Abu Dhabi Classics Academy represents an entire world surrounding the concerts of Abu Dhabi Classics: workshops, film presentations, open rehearsals etc. Free introductory events are being planned in conjunction with virtually every concert. The Abu Dhabi Classics Academy will build bridges between artists and audiences, between generations and between cultures. It is intended for long-time music lovers as well as newcomers – in fact for everyone united by their love of good music.
