Lang Lang – Piano Recital

Called by the New York Times the „hottest artist on the classical music planet“, he has played sold-out recitals and concerts in every major city in the world and is the first Chinese pianist to be engaged by the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic and all the „Big 5“ American orchestras. He appears with the most renowned conductors, including Ashkenazy, Barenboim, Chailly, Gergiev, Levine, Mehta, Maazel, Muti, Nagano, Ozawa, Saraste and Tilson Thomas. Recently, at the invitation of H.R.H. Prince Charles, he performed a piano concerto commissioned in memory of the Queen Mother.

In 2007 he was guest soloist at the Nobel Prize Concert in Stock holm, which was attended by Nobel laureates and members of the Swedish royal family. Highlights of his year in 2008 include his performance before 90,000 spectators and a worldwide television audience of literally billions at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games, as well as a number of other outdoor concerts: with the Vienna Philharmonic at the ceremony marking the European Cup Final in Vienna, in New York’s Central Park, at the Hollywood Bowl, and in Dresden and Hamburg. In March he played in a Paris recital with Cecilia Bartoli and violinist Vadim Repin to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great singer Maria Malibran. Recently Lang Lang’s Gershwin duet with Herbie Hancock at the 50th Grammy® Awards Ceremony was viewed by some 45 millions TV viewers worldwide. For his Abu Dhabi Classics recital debut, he has chosen a programme of works by Mozart, Schumann and Liszt.
