The inimitable Vienna Philharmonic, under a conductor closely associated with this legendary orchestra, brings its unique instrumental colours to three of the most evocative nature-paintings in the entire repertoire: Beethoven’s immortal symphonic depiction of a visit to the countryside, Debussy’s dazzlingly vivid portrait of the sea at three times of day, and excerpts from Ravel’s gorgeous ballet based on Greek myth, including its famous musical depiction of sunrise.
