Université Paris-Sorbonne Abu Dhabi
6.00 pm, Emirates Palace
The great orchestra of Munich’s world-renowned opera house, under the baton of the outstanding young German conductor Thomas Hengelbrock, makes a rare visit abroad to present an evening of scenes from some of Wagner’s great masterworks: the passionate love story of medieval minstrel and poet Tannhäuser and the tragic tale of the legendary Flying Dutchman, doomed to sail the seas until redeemed by a faithful woman’s love, as well as the comic, touching and stirring story of the mastersingers guild of medieval Nuremberg.
