CONCERT WITH SEIJI OZAWA CANCELLED

Abu Dhabi – The concert with Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa planned for March 2 at the Emirates Palace, part of the Al Ain and Abu Dhabi Classics has been cancelled, the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage announced today. Conducting legend Seiji Ozawa has officially declared that he must undergo cancer surgery. Ozawa is cancelling all his performances scheduled in the next 6 months. That will include concerts in Abu Dhabi, Munich, Berlin, Paris and Vienna. He hopes to resume his activities after the summer.
„Seiji Ozawa is one of the world’s leading conductors and it is impossible to replace him“ said Abdullah Al Ameri, Director of Arts and Culture at ADACH. Till Janczukowicz, Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Classics added: „We wish Seiji all the best for his operation, a fast recovery and look forward to seeing him in Abu Dhabi in a very near future.
Purchased tickets will be refunded. The second concert of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra on March 5 at the Al Jahili Fort, as part of the Al Ain Classics Festival, will happen as planned under the direction of famous young British conductor Daniel Harding, soloist is Turkish pianist Fazil Say.
